Tulane Parents are crucial for the career guidance of students on many different levels.
Who is participating this year?
I think I want to assist in this event. What can I do?
Not only do parents have a significant investment into the success of their own son or daughter but they also add value to all students given their own career experiences and expertise. We invite Tulane parents to not only help promote the event to their students but also assist where they can serving as professionals during the event. Since this is our first event in Los Angeles, we are focusing the day on two events – a panel discussion on careers in the entertainment industry and our signature Focused Career Conversations:
1. Register to participate in Focused Career Conversations
Focused Career Conversations are 2-hour sessions whereby students can “focus” their networking efforts by visiting with professionals (alumni and parents) they want to meet by visiting them at a pre-assigned table in the venue space. Each participating professional will be given space at a table and an identifier indicating either their company affiliation or industry to better help students identify whom they would like to meet. This is not a recruiting event and we do not expect professionals to prepare any materials related to recruiting unless they choose to do so on their own. We do encourage our professionals attending to facilitate any additional connections within their organization for students that they deem to be sufficiently prepared for further referral.
When: Tuesday, March 28

I am sending my Tulane student to the event. How can I help them?
The best way you can help them is encourage them to prepare for the event far in advance. This means they should constantly review the list of participating professionals, look them up on LinkedIn, even reach out to them through LinkedIn or TulaneConnect.com. If your student does not have a proper fitting business suit, drop some subtle hints and maybe assist in the purchase.
Should parents attend? I can talk to professionals too on their behalf.
We are certainly happy to see you at any time, but we ask that parents not attend this event. We want our new and semi-new undergraduates (1st and 2nd year) to practice networking on their own and our seasoned undergraduates (3rd and 4th year) to use this for really building their professional circle which may lead to an internship or job. We are positive that they will fill you in on everything at the conclusion of the event.
Will the students be fed?
There is a lunch provided at the beginning of the event and beverage service will be available all day.
